Terms of service
What you agree to when you book with Adi Kailash Explore, and what we commit to in return — bookings, permits, the mountain's say, and where the line of responsibility sits.
01Who we are, and what these terms cover
Adi Kailash Explore (“we”, “us”) is a tour operator based at Pitrota, near Thana Kotwali, Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand 262501, running road journeys to Adi Kailash, Om Parvat, the Darma Valley and Munsiyari in Pithoragarh district, Uttarakhand. We are a registered MSME and recognised by Uttarakhand Tourism; the registrations are shown on our home page and can be checked against the registers named there.
These terms apply to every booking made with us — over WhatsApp, by phone, by email or in person — and to your use of adikailash.io. By paying the booking advance you accept them, together with our Refund and cancellation policy and Privacy policy. Where your written confirmation says something more specific than these pages, the confirmation applies.
02What you are booking
A package is the day-by-day itinerary, the inclusions and the exclusions listed on its tour page on the day you book, for the departure date and the number of travellers in your confirmation. Prices are per person, in Indian rupees, and the price in your written confirmation is the price you pay: nothing is added afterwards except the items the tour page lists as not included — lunches, personal expenses, and anything you choose to add on the road.
Our departures run in season, May – November. Departure dates are the ones we confirm to you; a date shown on the website before it is confirmed to you in writing is an intention, not a booking.
Our packages are driven, not trekked. Where a tour page says an activity happens “road conditions permitting” or “if the authorities permit it”, that is the condition, and it is decided on the day.
03Booking and payment
- You message or call us with your route and month. We reply with dates, the day-by-day plan and one clear price, in writing.
- Your seat is confirmed when the booking advance of ₹5,000 per person reaches our account. You receive a receipt and your batch confirmation the same day.
- The balance is due before departure, by the date stated in your confirmation. A booking whose balance has not arrived by that date may be released; we will always message you first.
Payments are made to the bank account named in your written confirmation. We do not take card details over the phone or on WhatsApp, and we will never ask you to pay to any account other than the one on our written confirmation — if a message asks otherwise, call us on +91 76688 58311 before paying anything.
A booking is for the named travellers. A change of name is usually possible before the permit is filed; ask us.
04Permits, documents and eligibility
Adi Kailash and Om Parvat lie inside India in an area that needs an Inner Line Permit, issued by the administration at Dharchula. We apply for it on your behalf as part of the package. To do that we need, from each traveller, a government photo ID and passport-size photographs. The permit is checked on the road; carry the original ID with you.
The permit is granted by the authorities, not by us. If a permit is refused, revoked or the area is closed, the Refund policy sets out what comes back to you. Documents that arrive late or incomplete can mean a permit cannot be filed in time; that is treated as a cancellation by you.
Rules for foreign nationals in the permit area differ from those for Indian citizens and change without notice. Tell us your nationality before you book and we will tell you what is possible that season.
05Health, altitude and safety
The Adi Kailash circuit reaches 3,200 m at Gunji, its highest overnight stop, and goes higher by day: over 5,000 m at Lipulekh. An acclimatisation day is built into every itinerary. Tell us in writing, before you book, about any condition, medication or pregnancy that could matter at altitude — we will tell you honestly if we have concerns, and it is better to hear them in Pithoragarh than in Gunji.
Our guides carry oxygen and are trained for this road. On safety — whether to continue, turn back, or bring someone down — the guide’s decision is final and you agree to follow it. Travellers who put themselves or the group at risk may be taken off the route, and the Refund policy says what happens then.
We recommend travel insurance that covers high-altitude road travel and medical evacuation. It is not included in any package.
06When the mountain changes the plan
Weather, landslides, road closures and government orders can cut a leg, close a road or end a departure at short notice. We will tell you the moment we know. Where a leg is cut we reroute within the same valley; where a day cannot be run at all we do not charge for it; where the whole departure cannot run you choose a full refund or another date. These are the terms of the road, and they are in the Refund policy.
Extra nights forced by a closure — a road that reopens the next morning, for instance — are arranged by us and agreed with you, including what they cost, before they are booked.
07Your responsibilities on the road
- Be at the pickup point at the time in your confirmation. The vehicle waits as long as it safely can, and the group’s day depends on the road.
- Carry your ID, your medicines and warm layers for every month; nights above 3,000 m drop below freezing even in June.
- Respect the places: the temples, the homes that host you, the army posts, and the valley. No littering, no drones without the permit they require, and photographs of people only with their consent.
- You are responsible for your own belongings in vehicles and stays.
08Our responsibility, and its limits
We arrange the transport, the stays, the guide and the permit, and we run the itinerary as described, honestly and with care. Where we fall short of what we promised in writing, we put it right where we can, and refund what we did not deliver.
We are not liable for loss, delay or injury caused by events outside our control — weather, road and bridge conditions, landslides, government or army orders, strikes, or the acts of third parties who are not our staff — or for the personal belongings you carry. Hotels, homestays and vehicles are run by the people who own them; we choose them with care and we are answerable to you for that choice, but their premises and vehicles are theirs.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under Indian consumer law that cannot be limited.
09Photographs, reviews and communication
We photograph our departures. A photograph in which you can be recognised is used on our site or channels only with your consent, asked for at the time — never taken from a group and used as scenery. If you have given consent and change your mind, write to hello@adikailash.io and it comes down.
By booking you agree that we may contact you on WhatsApp and by phone about your booking, including the batch group we open a week before departure. We do not add you to marketing lists without asking.
10The website
We keep adikailash.io accurate: distances are driven, altitudes are surveyed, prices are the current season’s. Where a photograph is representative of a region rather than of the named stop, it is marked so. The website is a description of what we sell; the contract is your written confirmation.
The text, photographs, the route map and the Adi Kailash Explore mark are ours or used with permission. Partners and the press may use the material we publish for that purpose on our brand page; anyone else should ask first. Links to other sites are provided for convenience and we are not responsible for their content.
11Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Talk to us first — a message to +91 76688 58311 or hello@adikailash.io reaches the people who ran your trip, and almost everything is settled there. Anything that is not is subject to the courts at Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand.
If we change these terms the date at the top changes with them. The version in force when you paid your advance is the one that applies to your booking.
A question about this?
Message us on WhatsApp or write to hello@adikailash.io — somebody in Pithoragarh replies, not an auto-responder. Nothing in these pages replaces what we confirm to you in writing for your own booking.
